I would say no because an orchestra consists if string instruments (preferably violins, cellos, etc.) I myself am a sax player and saxophones play in bands, not orchrestras. - Sax Master In a symphony orchestra, saxophones play in the woodwind section. Saxophones are not normally used in orchestras. There are exceptions, however, and when they are used, they are in the woodwind section.
saxophone
The saxophone is not typically a standard instrument in a traditional orchestra, but it can be featured in certain compositions. Its importance in an orchestra depends on the specific piece being performed.

The saxophone.
There is a lot of debate over this, as the saxophone has the body of a brass instrument yet the mouthpiece of a woodwind. However, they are conventionally placed in the brass section, as most feel this is the one it most resembles. It is also worth noting that very few orchestras have a saxophone section, as it has a less traditional tone to many orchestral instruments, although many notable composers (shostakovich amongs them- who is an ACTUAL legend) who use saxophones in their pieces.
