Who brought Jazz to northern cities?

African Americans from the south brought Jazz Music with them to the northern cities during the Great Migration. It was at this point that Jazz along with other southern music styles like Blues became commercial. The Mississippi River became a route via either river or train of Jazz and Blues musicians as they headed northward to innovate and expand upon the music.
