The guitar wasn't actually officially declared invented until 1929, but Les Paul had been attempting to perfect amplification since the early 1920's. It was George Beauchamp who first invented the electrically amplified guitar and Adolph Richenbacher (Rickenbacker) first manufactured them in 1932. Les Paul...he was also the inventor of the multi-track tape recorder and the echo machine. Check out his work with Mary Ford, especially Mockingbird Hill which was the first song ever recorded where a singer sang her own harmonies...in other words, the first multi-track recording.=================Technically Les Paul invented the modern solid-body electric guitar during the 1940s - guitars had been electrically amplified since the early 1930s by the likes of Paul Tutmarc, George Beauchamp and Adolph Rickenbacker, Lloyd Loar and others. Les Paul himself was one of these pioneers, having first amplified a guitar using a phonograph pickup at the age of 12, but there were many others working on the same problem.
The very first piloted helicopter was invented by Paul Cornu in 1907, however, this design was not successful. French inventor, Etienne Oehmichen built and flew a helicopter one kilometer in 1924. Another early helicopter that flew for a decent distance was the German Focke-Wulf Fw 61, invented by an unknown inventor. Igor Sikorsky is considered to be the "father" of helicopters not because he invented the first. He is called that because he invented the first successful helicopter, upon which further designs were based. One of aviation's greatest designers, Russian born Igor Sikorsky began work on helicopters as early as 1910.

The consumer's demand for blank tape used for personal music-recording was unanticipated by Philips. History of Sound Recoding
