Depends on what style of guitar you like. No doubt as a shredder, Yngwie was far more technically proficient and revolved his style around the diminished E scale, however, Jimi had more interesting songs and had that soul aspect that technical playing can't always bring.
I believe that Stevie Wonder has sold more records than Jimi Hendrix. While both men are extremely talented and innovative, I think more people can relate to Stevie's music than Jimi's.
