John Arnold is the bands banjo player, he was bought his first banjo at the age of 10 and began learning to play at 14. The band Lonesome Highway was formed in 1996 playing both contemporary and traditional bluegrass styles. They currently play out of Romney, West Virginia.

In addition to being a banjo player, John Arnold is the general manager, vocalist and along with guitarist Buddy Dunlap, songwriter for the band.
