The songs on the album "ARMAGEDDON/THEMAZE" (all but 2 of the songs) actually originated from the creative talents of the guy who wrote them in the 1960's. Several of those songs were written in the early 1960's in Karachi Pakistan by William R. Gardner (Bill Gardner) and performed by his band, The D'Fenders, an American group located in Karachi Pakistan. Kissey Face was probably the most popular of those songs. None of the songs written by Bill Gardner were the result of "drug use" as is often reported to help "hype" the music as "hippy era" classics. The songs had an influence of far eastern sounds absorbed from Bill Gardner's embracing of the culture of that part of the world. The original drummer on Kissey Face was Bill's brother Bob Gardner. Bill Gardner played the lead, Jim Omps played keyboard and rhythm guitar, Jim Martin played base. THE MAZE was about 5 bands down the line who played Bill Gardner's music. The music has been pirated many times and Bill Gardner's name has been changed to various names like Wagner Gardner to hide the piracy. Today, Bill Gardner can be found on facebook as William R. Gardner and he resides in Suisun City California spending most of his time hiking and enjoying life on the bay area waters in his boat. It's long overdue to give credit where credit is due.
