The only popular song I am aware of that has a lesbian romance theme-direct, and the word is never mentioned, is We sang in the Sunshine. the song deals sort of back-side foremost- future-p[ast orientation ( not in Science Fiction way) about two happily unioned ( for lack of a better word) Lesbians. the plot of the song is very similar to the Four lads ( moments to remember) which has a borderline bittersweet plot line-characters are mature looking back on youth and it is more lost than nostalgia, not ( Golden oldies). I believe the song was recorded by the Mamas and the Papas and had only female vocals. hence the distaff side only- a fairly bouncy if thoughtful song almost like something on a juvenile program- except for the lesbian angles.
