Jimi performed with his band Gypsy Sun and Rainbows, not with the Jimi Hendrix Experience that original Woodstock promoters stated. Bassist Billy Cox (who would later be part of the Band of Gypsies group that Hendrix debuted a few months after Woodstock), drummer Mitch Mitchell (from The Experience), guitarist Larry Lee and two percussionists performed with Hendrix during the festival and Hendrix's Woodstock group was the largest band he had ever performed with.
