The Beatles have sold more records than anyone else.
The Rolling Stones had more hits than The Hollies. The Rolling Stones are considered one of the most successful rock bands in history, with numerous chart-topping singles and albums. While The Hollies were also very successful and had a string of hits, their total number of chart successes is significantly lower than that of The Rolling Stones.
No, it was not. The only double album The Beatles released was The Beatles (more commonly known as the White Album) which was released in 1968.

The Beatles recorded and released 214 different songs on original release albums, EP's and singles, about 20 of which were not written by the Beatles. Some of these songs were recorded more than once, but a little differently and re-released. Two songs were recorded in German in the early days. The Beatles also recorded many songs that were never released. Some of these turned up on post-Beatles solo albums.

my opinion has to be the beatles xx
I believe Elvis and The Beatles were both pretty even in the amount of fans they had. But The Beatles had four members of the band rather than Elvis, therefore attracting more people of the time since everyone had their "favorite of The Fab Four". Since Elvis and the Beatles were both the beginning of real music, I think it's fair to say history can't record which bands were more popular.
