Although the term orchestra, meaning a group of musicians performing together, dates back to ancient Egypt, the modern orchestra we would recognize today dates back to about the 17th century with the popularity of Opera and public concerts. Prior to this, groups of musicians would be found only in the houses of nobilty so that they might provide entertainment to guests.
By comparison, the Trombone has been around since the mid 15th century.
So, you might ask, "who introduced the orchestra to the trombone?"
