Generally speaking, Brian Wilson and Mike Love shared lead vocals in the early years of The Beach Boys, with Brian singing in a higher register or falsetto and Mike singing in a lower register with a nasal quality to his vocals. Quite often, Mike sang lead on verses and Brian sang lead on choruses. However, the other Beach Boys also sang lead vocals on recordings and in concert. For example, Al Jardine sang lead on "Help Me, Rhonda" and Carl Wilson sang lead on "Good Vibrations" and "God Only Knows." After Brian stopped touring, Carl began singing the songs that Brian had previously been the lead vocalist.

∙ 14y agoThe original drummer for the Beach Boys was Dennis Wilson. He was also the only member of the band who surfed. Dennis died in 1983. His solo album Pacific Ocean BLUE was the first Beach Boys solo album and is considered a rock and roll classic.
The drummer in the current Beach Boys touring band is John Cowsill.
