The song was written in 1973 by Phil Armenia. The song was made popular by a group named The Couriers, based out of Harrisburg, PA. This group has a songwriter, Neil Enloe, who is famous for writing the song, "Statue of Liberty". An inadvertent typo gave Neil Enloe credit for writing the song. It has been recorded by many groups including, The Booth Brothers in 2009.
