Why did Michael Jackson name his son prince?

Everyone knows that "Prince" is a family name that goes back four generations in his mother's family. His grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather were all named "Prince Screws." His grandfather had two daughters, Kattie and Hattie, therefore, there were no boys to pass the name on and the name skipped one generation. The spelling of Katherine's last name was changed to "Scruse" when the family moved North. When Michael had male children, he carried on the family name in honor of his mother.
