Rancid's singer (I think its Tim Armstrong) was in Operation Ivy. In Rancid's song "Journey to the East Bay" the lyrics state: "Started in 87, ended in 89 got a garage or an amp well play any time. It was the four of us, just the core of us, too much attention unavoidably destroyed us." So I guess the attention brought them down. At least we can hear Jesse Michaels in Common Rider and other bands
