No, When they first started, they had a fifth member, Stuart Sutcliffe, on bass. But he quit and they never had more than four again at one time.
Shortly after he won a John Moores prize in an art competition he entered; Moores personally bought Sutcliffe's entry. He planned to spend the money on art supplies; his college classmate John Lennon persuaded him to buy a bass guitar (a Hofner President) instead. Sutcliffe thought belonging to a band would improve his public persona, but he turned out to have limited musical talent, and usually played with his back to the audience, so they couldn't see how few notes he was actually playing.
For most of their career there were four Beatles. Before their fame, they were a five piece with Stuart Sutcliffe playing bass and Pete Best on drums.

In the days of the Quarrymen, Bill Smith played what was called a tea chest bass, quite standard for skiffle groups. Unhappy that Smith performed at only two shows and rarely turned up for rehearsals, Lennon decided that he should be replaced by his friend Len Garry, "borrowing" Smith's bass in the process. When the choice of music changed from skiffle to rock and roll, the group had no bass player until Lennon urged his art college friend, Stu Sutcliffe, to buy a bass and join the band. Sutcliffe's bass playing was rudimentary and he often turned his back to the audience to hide his inadequacy as a musician. When Sutcliffe left the Beatles, Paul McCartney took over the role as the group's bassist.

He was the original bass player for the Beatles. (McCartney originally played guitar.) Sutcliffe left in 1961 and returned to Art school in Hamburg. Stuart Sutcliffe died of a brain haemorrhage in Hamburg on April 10th 1962, after suffering for several years from serious migraines and apparent bouts of schizophrenic behaviour. No satisfactory diagnosis has ever been reached for his condition. At the time of his death Sutcliffe was living with Astrid Kirchherr - a German photographer and artist who was largely responsible for the Beatle's 'look' in their early days. Kirchherr had a major influence on Beatle Jackets and their choice of hairstyle.
He's called a bassist. Paul McCartney played bass for most of the Beatles recordings and performances, although originally the band's bassist was Stuart Sutcliffe and occasionally George or John would play bass - John played bass on Let It Be as it was recorded live and Paul was playing piano.
