"Skins" was unique in that in its depiction of youth in Britain, regularly finished stories of some characters only to replace them with new characters every two seasons. That's what happened between the end of season four, which first aired from January to March 2010 and the start of season five in January 2011, when a handful of new young characters were introduced with their own stories.

The end of Emily and Naomi's tale came when Naomi rivaled that she had always loved Emily but was frightened by how powerful the feelings were. But at the end, she presents her with a ticket to India where they goth go after graduation. The notion is that they live happily ever after.

Naomi and Emily do return, but much later -- in the seventh and final season in summer 2013.

Naomi is sharing a flat in London with Effy, looking for work and trying her hand as a standup comic. Emily is in New York in an internship. A dramatic turn is ahead; I won't spoil it further by saying what it is.

As for John Cook, the counselor Dr. Foster and the death of Freddie McClair, the shocking turn of events at the end of season four would mean the last we see of any of them until, again, in season seven, Cook explains what happened -- he went on the run after killing Dr. Foster, motivated by the doctor's murder of Freddie. Cook learned from the lesson though and doesn't follow through on murderous feelings after a similar situation occurs.
