The band wants to sort out who their "true fans" are. If someone stops liking their music just because of their actions, obviously, they're not very dedicated fans. Basically, they want people to like their music no matter what.
Also, they want to show people who are gay that it is okay to kiss people of the same sex, they shouldn't hide who they are, and just to be themselves.

From the searching I have done, alot people are saying Frerard was not real. It was apparently just on-stage flirting but nothing more. As Frank Iero said: 'Gerard and I aren't gay, we just like to play around. Blowjobs aren't gay.'
