Musical classification is highly subjective and personal. It is also a marketing tool. Because of this, bands, managers, promoters, and fans often have differing genre classifications for the same music. I am quite confident that there is no definition of "progressive rock" that would hold up to the scrutiny of more than half of the English-speaking musical world.
