The string bass (the biggest instrument in the string family) has two different styles of bowing, and two different bows to accommodate them. The most common one you see is the English style, in which the bow is held with the fingers and is perpendicular to the forearm. The other style is the German style, in which the bow is held in the hand and is parallel to the forearm. There are advantages and disadvantages to both kinds of playing. Mostly it boils down to how you were taught- players tend to stick with what they are most familiar with.
The bass bow is so short that it is possible to have these two styles. The higher the instrument, the longer the bow, so you can't really manage the German style on a violin, viola or cello.
because it is so low if it was put on treble clef it would be impossible to read as it would be so far below the stave. Bass clef just allows it to be written neatly and be easy to read
From smallest to largest: * Violin * Viola * Cello * Bass * Harp
No. Cello and Bass are different instruments and therefore they have their own methods of doing things. Bassists in general, for example, don't use the 3rd finger until after the octave harmonic point. The bow holds are slightly different as well. You also have to stretch further to get the same intervals between notes on the Double Bass.
No. Bow rosin is bow rosin.
No, the double bass is the largest and lowest.
rosin for horse hair varnish for bow! Hope this helps
you pluck it with your fingers or bow it with a bow.
With a bow, or plucked.
Because the double bass is the largest instrument in the orchestra.
You can play the Double Bass either arco. (which is with a bow) or pizzicato (which is plucking the strings).
Of the modern orchestral strings, the string bass or double bass has the largest bow, but not the longest. While the wooden part of the bow is much larger (nearly twice the diameter) of a violin bow, and the hair "ribbon" is wider and thicker with heavier hair, the violin bow is longer. The bass bow is heavier because it needs to have more weight behind it to move the heavy strings on the bass. It is short because the player does not bend his arm like the smaller instruments, and has a smaller range of motion across the strings. This is not a big problem, because the dynamics of bowing let the bass player move the bow more slowly across the strings and thus can get just as long a note as violinists can with their longer bows.
You could start by getting lessons. There is more than one style on the bass, styles include Jazz, Rockabilly, Classical. Often reffered as String bass, Contra Bass, Stand up bass, Double Bass. Pizzicato is a plucking technique, Arco means to use your bow, There is a French bow and a German bow. I'd start by playing with a bow, learning scales and your positions on the finger board. Mostly used for walking in jazz.
You can fingerpick using your....fingers or pick it using a plectrum/pick. Alternatively you can even pluck it or use a bow on something like a double bass.

Yes if you have a double bass on a drum set it can go really fast.
A short bow is faster
it is similar to most string instruments (like violin, viola, double bass) we can pluck the strings using our fingers or bow it.
