You have probably spilled liquid from the cup holder. You can fix this by removing the trim (open your console lid and pull up the trim peice to allow access to the wiring connector) clean the contacts with rubbing alcohol and re-attach. Be careful when removing the trim as it is easy to break and costly to replace.
