Why does your aftermarket radio speaer dont work but your factory do?

Most likely the speakers are rated for different 'ohms' (or resistance value) in the car stereo wiring. For example, the stock speakers could be rated for 12 ohm wiring, but your aftermarket ones could be rated for 10 ohm wires. The aftermarket speaker would not work, because there is too much resistance in the existing wires. So, either find replace your stock speakers with an OEM (original equipment - manufacturer) part, find an aftermarket speaker that will work with your current wiring, or rerun your speaker wiring (not terrribly difficult, but should still be done by a professional.) if you are using an aftermarket wiring harness hook up the remote turn on wire on the new radio it should be blue with a white stripe to the harness also has a blue and white stripe and plug it in this wire turns on the factory amplifier if you are not using a harness you will have to locate the internal amplifier wire of the radio and connect that to the remote turn on on the aftermarket radio = answer = the inernal apm power wire is white on the black wire harness ANSWER if you dont want to use the factory amp. just run new speaker wires to each speaker.
You had the stock radio changed now the buttons on the steering wheel dont work what can you do and the onstar dont work on the new radio?
If you replaced it with an aftermarket unit,,,, Put it back!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, If its just A different factory unit, Then it likely has A code, Check with the dealer.,,,,,,,,,,, If you had A company do the changeover then they need to fix this problem unless they warned you that it may do this.

No, you dont need the code if your gonna put in an aftermarket deck. The only time you would need the code is if you took the stock radio out and unpluged the harness, so its not a problem with a new radio.

On my wife's 2000 grand prix - the radio also functions as part of the 'oil change indicator' system. You do some sequence with the radio buttons - and the indicator resets. I dont think you can add an aftermarket radio -- but I did add an ipod adapter and a CD changer in the trunk. (It was pre-wired for it)
