A person's right arm may hurt when they are playing the cello because they are moving it back and forth for an extended period of time. A person may feel an ache if they aren't used to playing a lot.

How heavy is a cello?

A cello is not usually very heavy, light enough to carry with one arm, but don't do it because you may bump into something and smash the poor thing. It is usually 8-30 pounds. It depends on the wood, how big it is and how hollow it is. But most are pretty light.

When i play cello i know that my arm hurts because i need to relax my shoulder but i cant figure out how to relax my shoulder and am and still play?

First of all try thinking about relaxing your shoulder rather than actually trying to do it. This is a common Alexander Technique trick. It usually helps allot. If that fails, get somebody to gently pull your arm away from you, but only gently (there is no intention to cause injury). When you're playing, try concentrating on your shoulder very hard (THINKING not doing), and for a little while try thinking mainly about your shoulder, and play without any emotion, as your neck and shoulders tend to stiffen up if you do that.Remember - the priority is to get rid of the ache, not to play the notes right. If it helps, you could use this idea whilst playing scales very slowly.

How do you play a g sharp on the cello?

It depends on which g sharp you mean. I will address the two possibilities in first position. To play the g sharp on the g string extend your first finger back. To play the g sharp on the d string extend your fourth finger forwards.
