Martin bought the rights to use the name Goya back sometime in the 1970's. They produced a line of Guitars made in Korea and possibly Japan, and imported them into the US. I suppose it was done to be able to offer a lower cost model that still had some quality to the build. I own a G-125, classical, and it is a nice guitar. You can find more info on the net if you search.

Jimmy plays a Martin HD-18JB, which is a limited edition model. These guitars were produced in 1998 and Martin only made 424 of them. Each guitar has a sequentialy numbered interior label (#1 of 424, #2 of 424 etc.) signed by Jimmy Buffett and CF Martin IV (CEO of Martin guitars).
According to the Martin Guitar website the guitar with that serial number was made in 1985.
