90% chance it's the amplifier if you have the amp in the truck. Go to a GOOD audio shop and have them test the input to see if the radio works, then the speakers to see if they are getting current.
I just had the same problem on my 2005 Impala and I found no power going to the amplifier. So I followed the wires and found a splice( located under the rear right hand passenger carpet ) pulled apart. It appeared that the wires were too short . So I added more wire and soldered it back together and everything works good as new.
check orange wire at connector to amp for power, probably a break in wire under the pass side seat belt panel or along the harness on the right side under the skuff plates,

Newer radios are programmed with the VIN of the car they are in. If you have to replace the radio with a factory radio, you have to take it to your local dealer, and have them reprogram it. They might require you to show proof that the new radio is bought, and not stolen thou. But the new radio has to be unlocked thru the OBD2 port thru a GM scanner.
