The Beatles had every intention of including those tracks on Sgt. Pepper's. Along with "When I'm 64," they were the first three tracks recorded. However, since the album took so long to complete, EMI/Parlophone Records wanted a new single released to meet public demand. The decision was made to release both tracks as a double A-side single. The Beatles and George Martin had a personal policy of not wanting to release albums that contained pre-released singles. They considered it a rip-off to expect record buyers to buy songs they already purchased as singles, especially in the UK where teens did not have the same buying power as American teens.

No one I think is in my tree, I mean it must be high or low. That is you can't you know tune in but it's all right. That is I think it's not too bad. Let me take you down, 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields. Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about. Strawberry Fields forever. Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see. It's getting hard to be someone but it all works out. It doesn't matter much to me. Let me take you down, 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields. Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about. Strawberry Fields forever. Always know sometimes think it's me, but you know I know and it's a dream. I think I know of thee, ah yes, but it's all wrong. That is I think I disagree. Let me take you down, 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields. Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about. Strawberry Fields forever. Strawberry Fields forever. Strawberry Fields forever.
