When it started, it was relatively clean. Then, gangs began to "sing" hip-hop. It began to change for the worse. The gangs were violent, and then hip-hop got the reputation of being violent. Later, groups created songs that were extremelly inappropriate. The government got involved sometimes because some of the songs were threats to the police. In a nut shell, that is how it chaged.
Well its for underground rappers its a lot more gritty, rough, and violent but the rappers that are famous are more poppy and attracted to all ages and races, back in the 1970s it was mostly African Americans or people who lived on the streets.
Much like dub music, hip hop as a DJing form started with no vocals

The "godfather" of hip-hop is DJ Kool Herc.
There wasn't just one first person to make a hip hop song it was many people, and there's no tellin who made the first hip hop song ur talkin about so many years back it really doesn't even matter just listen to the type of hip hop music u like and don't worry about it...most likely u weren't even born anyways when the first hip hop album even came out so who cares?

Well long story short a guy called DJ Kool Herc is the founding father of hip hop, from him came rappers and in the 80's came gangsta rap... Also the emergence of rappers like LL Cool J who was a hip hop pioneer being the first rapper to do a ballad... In the 90's rappers like Tupac and Notorious B.I.G took the hip hop world by storm rapping about the slums etc and 'keeping it real' with songs like 'Changes'... Now hip hop has become commercial, all about the image and the money with the emergence of Soulja Boy etc.
Who cares? Hip Hop is poo.
Hip hop fashion is fashion that comes from hip hop singers. Like if hip hop singer wore a dress then dresses would become hip hop fashion but is is not. i think hip hop fashion is more to do with what hiphop dancers wear, like baggy pants and hoodys.

Around the 1970's when Hip-Hop had first taken its roots. It wouldn't sound like Hip-Hop in the 80's and 90's, but it was more towards the sound of Poetry which was the base of Hip-Hop.

Hip-Hop is an overall description of the genre that rap is a part of and rapping is described as "spoken or chanted lyrics" and has existed even before Hip-Hop came into being.
