There used to be Panthera Tigris Virgata, namely Caspian tigers in Tarbaghatay mountain range as well as other locations within Mongolia, mostly in areas bordering Eastern Kazakhstan, China and the Altay Mountains of the Russian Federation, unfortunately as of now that subspecies is considered extirpated.
There are some re-introduction efforts underway based on the genetic affinity of
the Caspian and Amur tiger subspecies. Again, unfortunately, so far it is mostly limited to lofty declarations...........
