All electrical outlets should be protected from current overloads by circuit breakers and/or fuses on the main power supply panel. Such a panel must always be fitted where the main power cables come into the building. If there were no fuses or breakers all the wires behind the outlet would burn too - this could start a fire and burn the building down. So, the simple answer to this question is "No" because if too much current was taken from a socket outlet it should not be possible for a fire to start in the socket outlet itself. HOWEVER, if ever a serious electrical fault occurred in an appliance plugged into the socket outlet, there is always the risk that a fire might start in the appliance itself - or in the plug or flexible cord feeding it. This kind of thing can happen either because an appliance became too old and worn-out (like a frayed flex) or because of an accident. (Someone catches a flex with their foot and the clothes iron ends-up on the floor and gets damaged.)When this happens, any small amount of extra current taken is often not enough to cause the circuit breakers and/or fuses on the main power supply panel to trip or blow to cut the current off. For that reason, all the time any electrical appliance is in use, it is essential to be alert for any strange smells or noises, smoke or flames! If anything like that happens IMMEDIATELY switch off the appliance and unplug it from the socket outlet to avoid a fire.
buy an appliance bulb from the light bulb store. unplug the fridge. Unscrew the old bulb. Screw in the new one.
We controlled fire 125,000 years ago for sure and possibly 400,000 years ago (of course that was Homo Erectus). There are claims for "definitive evidence" of fire control as much as 1.7 million years ago. Of course fire itself is at least as old as the Earth, but I assume you mean how long has Man had fire.
In the electrical trade it has taken on the meaning that a circuit has been energized. e.g. Is the circuit for the appliance plugs hot?The above answer correctly addresses the normal trade interpretation of the question. But if the question was asked by a non-member of the electrical trade and is asking what it means if an appliance's plug is literally "hot" in the sense of having a hot temperature or "feeling hot to the touch", it means that the wires have become loose in the terminals inside the plug and are getting hot because of the resulting high resistance. If they are not tightened up urgently the plug and its wiring could easily catch on fire because the circuit breaker protecting the circuit may not trip to cut off the current. It may not trip because its rated tripping current may never be reached even though the plug and its flex are burning... So, if no-one is there to switch off the current and remove the plug from its socket outlet when its starts to give off smoke and a bad smell, that is the exact cause of many bad house fires every year! So at least get those wires tightened up or, better, get that old plug and its flex replaced by new ones! As always, if you are in doubt about what to do, the best advice anyone should give you is to call a licensed electrician to advise what work is needed. Before you do any work yourself,on electrical circuits, equipment or appliances, always use a test meter to ensure the circuit is, in fact, de-energized. IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY SURE YOU CAN DO THIS JOBSAFELY AND COMPETENTLYREFER THIS WORK TO QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS.

I am in need of some new appliances mine are a bit old. Where is a place that is having an appliance sale?
To change a plug on an electrical appliance, first unplug the appliance and cut off the old plug. Strip the insulation from the wires, then attach them to the new plug following the manufacturer's instructions. Make sure the wires are securely connected and the plug is properly assembled before plugging in the appliance.
Put it on the right setting-how dark you want your toast-and press down! If the toaster is old, just keep an eye on the toast. Toasters cause more house fires than any other appliance!
new plug needed... old one black and wet? not firing...fouled out.. take old plug to parts store get same numbers on new one
One of the ways electrical appliances can go wrong is to catch on fire because something inside gets damaged in an accident, like being dropped on the floor. The flexible cord or the plug of an appliance may also catch on fire for the same reason, if one or both of them - or the appliance - get damaged or just plain wear out from old age. For that reason it is important, every time just before you use it, to check the condition of the appliance, its flex and its plug. If anything looks worn-out, burnt or frayed, do not use the appliance until the damaged part has been properly repaired or you have thrown the appliance away and bought a new one instead. Also, it is never safe to leave something like an electric iron or an electric kettle switched on, on its own, unattended. The reason for that advice is so that if you see anything like smoke coming out of it, or if an actual fire starts, you will be there to switch it off and disconnect it from the power supply. If it is hot or cold makes no difference to this: it is never safe to leave any electrical appliance on an ironing board, a table or a shelf where it could get pulled off onto the floor if someone catches the flexible cord with their feet by accident. Not only could they get injured from the heavy object falling on their feet - especially a small child - the appliance itself can easily get damaged inside by being allowed to drop onto the floor, so that it catches on fire the next time it is switched on.

To perform a Maytag belt replacement on your appliance, you will need to first unplug the appliance and remove the back panel to access the belt. Then, release the tension on the old belt and remove it from the pulleys. Install the new belt by looping it around the pulleys and adjusting the tension. Finally, replace the back panel and plug in the appliance to test the new belt.
