no, hermit crabs live at the beach so it is not part of their natural environment. I suggest putting sand or coconut fiber in the bottom of the cage.
not long you should try a to find a way to put him back in his shell or he will die. My Hermit crab left his shell and never made it back. In other words: He left the house and never came back...
A hermit crab can go with out others but I is highly recommended. Hermit crabs are social animals and like to live together. They get lonely. In the wild hermit crabs live in colonies or clans. It can survive but hermit crabs are colony species, living in groups of hundreds of crabs. They do best with other crabs nearby. I suggest having a minimum of two or three. They can get very lonely. You can have one hermit crab though. But as the person above said, they can get lonely.User:Gab33Not really. For some months yes but if they go a long period of time without any other hermit crab contact they won't be doing so well. If they get lonely then its really not good for them. You really need another hermit crab.
you can put sand or stones in a crabs habitat my fiddler crab enjoys hiding under rocks and other things that he can fit into he will go into and space he can to hide so you can put large stones in for them to hide under. i bought a smalldome kind of thing that has a bottem layer then stones on either side to hold a large piece on top of it so he likes to go in there cuz he can sit in the water. also you can buy them beds at the pet store they like those. but all crabs need water so put water in it some crabs need salt water and some need normal water and mine needs part salt and part clean. so i hope this helps :)
no! Lizards live on land not in water. if you put it in a crab tank your a bad bad man!Improvement- You can as long as you put a lizard pad or sand in it and enough hiding places
I had 2 cages put in my back in 1998 now in 2009, October I had another back surgery repairing L3/4 no cage as my neuro said NO as the pressure builds up and that was what caused me to have this other surgery, he also said they dont advise the cage operation anymore.
yes although it would be wise to clean and disinfect it first, you don't know why your old crab might have died.
get a large cup and put the shell or the toy inside. Then get a pan and boil the water inside it. put the water in the cup and wait 2 minutes then take the shells out of the cup and put them in the hermit crab cage.
no we had over ten hermit crabs in one cage and they were all fine.:) since they are both different sizes you should keep an eye on them but you shouldn't worry because hermit crabs are very social animals.
hermit crabs are very pickey about there new domane or house put more than one shell in the cage.:)
Nothing exept have babbies faster
it depends how big the hermit crab is or the fish bowl
if your hermit crab pinches you put it under cold water
It depends on the hermit crab but I would personally say just to be careful No the big one might hurt or bully the smaller crab.
Sand or rocks are best. But, many crabs like coconut fiber. you can find it at most pet stores.
Hermit Crabs like Humidity. They need 70-80% humidity to survive. But, if it like 100 degrees and no humidity i recommend to put a fan or air conditioner on then, or in their cage.
The depth of substrate in a hermit crab habitat should be deep enough that it covers your largest crab at least by 3x. It should be made using about 5 parts playsand and 1 part coconut fiber, moistened to a sand-castle making consistency.
You get a shell, or a bowl that is close to the ground an put applesauce in it. if you leave him alone, he will eat it.
