A stable element is an element that does not provide radioactivity. 1 kg of Gold will be 1 kg of gold even after 100.000 years. It is a stable element.

An unstable element (like Uranium or Plutoneum) gives off radioactivity and actually form new elements like lead. 1 kg of pure Uranium will be 500 grams of Uranium and 500 grams of lead after 100.000 years.

Times given and breakdown products are for illustrative purposes only. Degradation of unstable materials is not my science but I know the basics of it :-)

What are the similarities and differences between the different blocks of the periodic table?

The periodic table is divided into blocks based on the electron configurations of the elements. The main blocks are s, p, d, and f. Similarities: Elements within the same block have similar chemical properties. Elements in the same block have the same number of valence electrons. Differences: The s-block elements are in groups 1 and 2, the p-block elements are in groups 13-18, and the d-block elements are in groups 3-12. The f-block elements are the lanthanides and actinides, which are placed below the main body of the periodic table.

What is the differences between periodic table that Mendeleev and Moseley created?

The periodic table created by Mendeleev in 1869 was based on atomic mass and grouped elements with similar properties together. Moseley improved upon this by arranging elements based on atomic number, leading to the modern periodic table where elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic number, which is the number of protons in the nucleus. This organization better reflects the physical and chemical properties of elements.

Which would you most expect to be an unstable atom?

An atom with an excess number of protons or neutrons relative to the number of electrons is more likely to be unstable. Additionally, atoms with a high atomic number (number of protons) tend to be less stable due to increased electromagnetic repulsion between the protons.

How do chemists organize information about elements?

By grouping the elements on the Periodic Table.

How many elements are in transition metals?

transition metals are not in any groups, however they are elements between group II & III of the periodic table

What are two similarities and differences between the elements sodium and oxygen?

Similarities: Both sodium and oxygen are essential elements found in the periodic table. Both elements are reactive, with sodium being a highly reactive metal and oxygen being a reactive nonmetal. Differences: Sodium is a metal, while oxygen is a nonmetal. Sodium is a solid at room temperature, while oxygen is a gas.

Describe two differences between Mendeleev's periodic table and the modern periodic table?

There are more elements and it's organized differently

What is the difference between alkaline metal and an earth alkaline metal?

They are both groups in the periodic table. Alkaline metals are group one. These are the least stable elements for e.g. Francium. Alkalie Earth Metals are group 2. The second most unstable elements. For e.g. Magnesium. Hope this helps!

What element form a bridge between the left and right sides of the periodic table?

Transition elements form a bridge between left and right side of periodic table . Transition elements are placed in centre.

What are the key differences between stable and unstable nuclei?

Stable nuclei have a balanced number of protons and neutrons, while unstable nuclei have an imbalance. Unstable nuclei undergo radioactive decay to become more stable.

What elements that form a bridge between the elements on the left and right side of the periodic table?
