The Ganges is not said to freeze over. This river, the largest in India, is situated in a geographical area that is generally fairly warm throughout the year. The headwaters of the Ganges are difficult to specify, and those streams high in the Himalayans spring from water that is melted from glaciers or snow. Some of these will freeze in winter.
