There are two types of cell division in people, mitosis and meiosis. In Mitosis, the cell copies all its DNA etc, then moves chromosomes around, replicating them. These new chromosomes are then put into a new cell as the cell divides. this cell dividing or "splitting in two" is called cytokinesis. In Meiosis, gametes or sex cells are made.
