basically, if you lift the hood and look directly at the engine (the big silver thing), on the top left side of it as you are looking at it from the front is where you place the oil in (oil cap). Just above that are the four spark plugs. They are underneath the plug and coils. you would have to unscrew the two bolts holding the coils down to get to two of the spark plugs, and the other two spark plugs, you just pull the wires off. (Just pull)
to change the plugs you must take off the spark plug boots..you then take the spark plugs out with a 5/8 sparkplug socket..put the new plugs in the holes and finger tighten them a little(with the socket and extension so that it doesnt cross thread)it might also be wise to replace the wires if they look bad or cracked..
Pull the wires out of the top of the motor, they have a long plastic boot on the end of the wire. Using a spark plug socket and a long extension you will be able to remove the spark plugs. Check the gap on your new plugs and I like to use a section of hose that fits on the top of the spark plug to to thread the plug back in. That way you reduce the chance of cross threading. Once you get them started you can tighten them down. I usually replace the wires when I replace the plugs. I would suggest replacing the plugs/wires one at a time to reduce the risk of mixing the wires up.
To access the spark plugs on a 2000 Mitsubishi Diamante V6 3.5L, you need to first remove the engine cover by unscrewing the bolts or clips holding it in place. The spark plugs are located underneath the cover, along the top of the engine. Use a spark plug socket and extension to remove and replace the spark plugs carefully to avoid damaging the threads.
theres a cover hiding everythign that needs to be pulled off first. the fuel injectors might need to be turn a tad to work in there. each individual plug has a coil on top of it. you have to unblolt them and pull it out. it will have a rubber boot and a spring inside that might break off, but pull it all off. then unscrew the plug and repeat the process. word to the wise : a mechanic told me if you disturb the coils they will cause the engine to miss fire so your better off waiting to change the plugs until the cylinder misfires, but all that need to be changed is the rubber boots and springs if it does miss
Some spark plugs can contain beryllium in the electrode tip for improved performance and durability. However, not all spark plugs use beryllium, as there are alternative materials available that can be used in spark plug construction. It is important to check the specifications of a specific spark plug model to determine if it contains beryllium.
