Believe it or not, there are advantages to living near a volcano. Volcanoes provide geothermal resources which are converted into energy. This type of energy is very clean and the resources are nearly inexhaustible. Moreover, when a volcano erupts it throws out a lot of ash. Although initially this ash is very harmful to the environment, in the long run, the ash layer will turn into extremely fertile soil, rich in minerals. And tourists flock to volcano sites because the sunsets and views that they create can be breathtakingly beautiful. In short, the main things that attract people to live near active volcanoes are minerals, geothermal energy, fertile soils and tourism
