The amount of protons is the same as the Atomic Number of the atom. Also the same goes for the amount of electrons. The number of neutrons in an atom would be the Atomic Mass minus the number of protons, neutrons, or atomic number. (it doesn't matter which of the three you use because they are all the same number)

For example Titanium has an atomic number of 22, protons 22, and electrons 22. The atomic mass is 47, so to find the amount of neutrons you would take the atomic mass (47) minus the atomic number, protons, or electrons (22).

So this would be your equation... Atomic mass - electrons (or whichever you choose) equals number of neutrons. So-> 47-22=25 neutrons.

How do you find the number of electrons in an atom if you know the number of protons and neutrons?

In a neutral atom, the number of electrons is equal to the number of protons of the nucleus.

What particles make up the mass of an atom?

The number of protons

Do you have to add the protons and electrons in order to find the atomic mass of an atom?

no, you add the protons and neutrons

How many electrons would you expect to find in a neutral atom containing three protons and four neutrons?

In a neutral atom, the number of electrons is equal to the number of protons. So, in an atom with three protons, it would contain three electrons. The number of neutrons does not affect the charge or number of electrons in the atom.

How do you find the mass number given the proton electrons and atomic number but not the neutrons?

The mass number of an atom is the number of protons plus the number of neutrons. This is is the same as the number of electrons plus the number of neutrons since the number of protons is the same as the number of electrons in an atom.

How do you find an atomic mass?

It is nothing but the total no of protons and electrons .So it is found by summing the total no protons and electrons present in an atom It is not electrons but the total of neutrons and protons present in the nucleus of any atom.

What atom had 26 protons 26 electrons and 30 neutrons?

Iron-56 or 56Fe 56 protons makes it iron. If you add the protons and neutrons, you find the mass, which is 56.

According to the modern concept of the atom which are located in the nucleus of an atom?

In the nucleus of an atom, you will find protons and neutrons. Protons are positively charged particles while neutrons are uncharged particles. Electrons, which are negatively charged, are found outside the nucleus in electron shells.

What is the number of protons neutrons and electrons in the neutral atom bromine-80?

Bromine has the atomic number 35, so it has 35 protons. To find the number of neutrons in Bromine-80, subtract the atomic number from the atomic mass: 80 (atomic mass) - 35 (protons) = 45 neutrons. Since it is a neutral atom, the number of protons and electrons are the same, so there are 35 electrons.

An atom of nitrogen has seven protons in its nucleus. How many electrons does it have?

Assuming that the atom has no charge, the atom will have seven electrons. If the atom is positive, you subtract the charge from the atomic number to find the number of electrons. If the atom is negative, you add the charge to the atomic number to find the number of electrons.

How do you figure out protons electrons neutrons?

Find the atomic number. That tells you the number of protons and electrons (in a neutral atom). Then find the atomic weight. The number of protons plus the number of neutrons will equal the atomic weight. So if you know the wt. just subtract the number of protons and you will have the number of neutrons.

How do you find the mass number of an atom that has 3 protons and 4 neutrons and 2 electrons?

The mass number of an atom is the sum of its protons and neutrons. In this case, the atom has 3 protons and 4 neutrons, so the mass number is 3 + 4 = 7. Electrons do not contribute to the mass number as their mass is negligible compared to protons and neutrons.
