There are two types of diagrams one is the Lewis diagram the other is the Electron dot diagram. To make the electron dot diagram you put the electron symbol and put a dot on one of the sides for each period (you don't count the middle section.) . . :Ne: = Neon dot diagram ' '
The symbols that use electron dot notation to represent molecules are called Lewis structures. These structures use dots to represent valence electrons around atoms in a molecule.
The Lewis dot diagram for Platinum is a diagram showing bonds & electrons of the Platinum atom within a molecule. Nobody will be able to draw you a diagram here, as this is a text-only answer board. Use Google Image Search if you want to actually see the Lewis diagram for Pt.
Let's start with an element such as Carbon. C has 4 valence electrons on it's outer shell. To draw C simply put the letter C in the middle and draw 4 dots around it. ***Example***(Notice if you count the dots there are 4) . .C. . How about an even easier one. Let's try hydrogen. H has 1 valence electron. To draw H simply put the letter H in the middle and put 1 dot around it, ***Example***(Notcie if you count the dots there is 1 dot) . H If there are 8 valence elecrtons 2 go on each side(2 on the right, 2 on the left, 2 on top, and 2 on the bottom)
Elctrons give off forms of light, which appear as dots. Using these dots use 4.7x10^5.

the diagram is huge.

Careful with electron, Eugene.
"The electron cloud is the space in the atom where the electrons orbit the nucleus."
That's a very nice diagram.

* See the dot to the left of this sentence? It's considered a bullet.

A sentence without a dot at the end lacks proper punctuation, making it incomplete. This may lead to confusion for the reader or listener as the end of the sentence is unclear. It is important to use appropriate punctuation to signal the end of a complete thought.

I think you are talking about Lewis dot structures. A dot represents an electron. We pair the dots because only two electrons can share the same orbital. A dash represents a two-electron bond between atoms. Two dashes represent a double bond; three dashes represent a triple bond.
