How does the Canadian shield affect it's population density?

The Canadian Shield is made up of mainly igneous and metamorphic rock. During the Glaciation period in Canada, around 15,000 years ago, some rock was eroded leaving a lower altitude for the shield. This helped the population growth as it is easier to forge children in a lower altitude. The further south in the shield you go the more chance you have to find people because of a higher temperature. This helps crop growth. In the northern area there is a more mountinous landscape this also hinders life there. The fact that people came thousands of years ago to live in the southern region also gives time for growth.
