Radio waves travel at the speed of light. When the Spirit rover landed on Mars, signals were able to be sent from the Earth to Mars in 9 minutes 30 seconds. Unfortunately, the rover became stuck and hasn't sent a signal to Earth since March 22, 2010.

How long does it take for commands from Earth to reach a rover on Mars?

Probably a while because of the distance of Mars form the earth and how long it takes for radio waves and data to travel through space and be picked up by satellites.

A space probe on the surface of mars sends a radio signal back to the earth, a distance of (9.03*10^7 km). Radio waves travel at the speed of light (3.00*10^8 m/s). How many seconds does it take for the signal to reach the earth?

0.301 seconds

How are spacecraft like Mars Orbiter instantly controlled from Earth?

They aren't controlled instantaneously. We still rely on radio waves, and they take a little time to get back and forth from Mars. Depending on where we are relative to Mars, it can take anywhere from 3 to 20 minutes for radio communications to make a one-way trip.

How long did it take the Mars Explorer to reach Mars?

About 250 days, but I haven't checked the exact number. (I guess you mean the Mars Exploration Rover mission.)

How do you cominucate to a satellite on mars from earth?

That is done by radio waves. The Earth end of the raio links are maintained by large dish-type radio antennas, of diameter more than 10 metres.

How long an airplane reach mars from earth?

An airplane, by definition, flies in the air, it does not fly in outer space where there is no air. So an airplane cannot fly from Earth to Mars. That requires a spaceship. With current technology, a spaceship might reach Mars in about a year. It's a long trip.

How long will it take for light rays leaving the sun to reach mars?

it will take 1.5 times longer for light from the sun to get to mars than to get to earth

How long does it take for a light ray leaving the sun to reach Mars when Mars is closest to the sun?

Mars is closest to the sun at a distance of about 206,669,000 kilometers. That's about 11.49 light minutes.

Why did it take 7 minutes for the radio signal to travel from the Curiosity back to earth?

Radio waves travel "at the speed of light" which, though very fast, is still a finite speed. Mars is far away so it takes 7 minutes for the radio waves to travel the distance from Curiosity to the Mars orbiter that then relays radio communications to Earth. How much delay in the electronics of the relay station in the orbiter and the electronics on Earth I cannot be certain, but certainly a measurable amount though probably less than a few seconds.

Can humans reach Mars?

Not yet, only probes have. In the future, NASA are hoping to reach Mars.
