There seems to only be one major asteroid belt in our solar system. In-between Mars and Jupiter.

Edit:

There are technically 4. "The asteroid belt" between Mars and Jupiter, the "Greeks and Trojans" that follow along Jupiter's elliptical, the Kuiper belt, the final one, is quite far out and though it is effected by our Sun's gravity. It is called the Oort field and orbits between 5,000 and 100,000 AU's from our solar system.

How many asteroidcomet belts exist in our solar system?

Mars does not have an asteroid belt. The Asteroid Belt happens to lie between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, but does not belong to either of them.

What are two belts of the solar system called?

The two belts are the asteroid belt and the Kuiper belt. The asteroid belt is located between Mars and Jupiter, populated with rocky objects. The Kuiper belt is farther out, beyond Neptune, and is home to many icy bodies and dwarf planets.

Is the asteroid belt located outside the solar system?

No, the asteroid belt is located within our solar system. It is a region between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter where many small rocky bodies, known as asteroids, orbit the Sun.

How many belts does the sun have?

The sun has 2 belts ,the asteroid and the kuiper belt.

Besides planets what is in the solar system?

The solar system houses the asteroid belt and the sun, and the outer solar system contains many comets and asteroids, some of them larger than Pluto.

What two planets have asteroid belts?

Mars and Venus. But the atmosphere of Venus is many many times denser. Also, all of the outer planets have similar atmospheres. Jupiter and Saturn are a very similar pair and Uranus and Neptune are also two that are very similar.

Is Venus located inside or outside of the Asteroid Belt?

Venus is located inside the Asteroid Belt. The Asteroid Belt is a region in our solar system between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter where many asteroids are found, while Venus is the second planet from the Sun, closer to the center of the solar system.

Is the Milky Way an asteroid belt?

No, the Milky Way is not an asteroid belt. It is a large barred spiral galaxy that contains our solar system along with billions of stars, gas, and dust. An asteroid belt is a region in a solar system where many asteroids are found orbiting the Sun.

How long would it take an asteroid to hit the sun?

It would depend entirely on how far away the asteroid was from the sun. Furthermore, which sun are you referring to? There are many suns in the solar system.

What in the solar system is closer to Jupiter than Mars?

The asteroid belt (many of Jupiter's smaller moons are captured asteroids).

Between what two planets does the asteroid belt lie?

Most of the asteroids within our solar system can be found within the Asteroid Belt. Located between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, the Asteroid Belt consists of millions of individual asteroids of varying sizes - from a speck of dust to hundreds of kilometers in diameter. The largest object within the belt is a dwarf planet - Ceres - which has a mass of 9.47x1020kg and a diameter of 476.2km.

Are all the asteroid in the asteroid belt?

No. Asteroids are scattered throughout the solar system in various orbits, some of which are relatively stable. Some have orbits that pass near Earth. But the vast preponderance of large asteroids are in the Main Belt between Mars and Jupiter. The problem with highly elliptical orbits is that the asteroid will be influenced by the major planets, moons, and the Sun. If its orbit is disturbed, it could be trapped by a giant planet or pulled too close to the Sun. Over the life of the solar system, many small asteroids have been either pulled into the Sun or ejected from the inner solar system by the gravity fields there.
