Many many more than were reported in the new papers or on TV. History is incorrect. I was there. My friends and family were greatly effected when Charlie came into Port Charlotte that day. After the hurricane passed, people were seen in trees, dead, and bodies were stacked in refrigerated semi trailers. My brother lives in TN and he said they were send more semis from his area to hold bodies. So, what ever the numbers you will see in the paper or on the internet, it's not true. But because higher ups didn't want the tourism industry to be damaged, lies were told. It's very sad and terribly disrespectful to the people who lost loved ones and their homes that day.
