all comets have two tail one is an ion tail made of gas the other is a dust tail made of dust. which means Halley's comet has two tails. :)
that's true what the person up there said.. but im doing a project on comets and i searched on Google images for its composition[whats it made of] and it said the was an Ion Tail, a Dust Tail, and a Hydrogen Envelope. the ion tail and the dust tail are right but i have no idea about the hydrogen envelope. confusedd ..
Well the first dude is right because i researed it and it said that so ya
Edmund Halley did not invent anything, but he was a British astronomer known for calculating the orbit of the comet that now bears his name. Halley's Comet, which passes by Earth approximately every 75-76 years, was the first comet to be recognized as periodic.
Halley's Comet was seen in April 1066, just before the Battle of Hastings in October of that year. It was considered an omen by many, including the Anglo-Saxons and the Normans.

Yes, there are many comets other than Halley's comet. Comets are icy bodies that orbit the Sun and often have elongated orbits that bring them close to the Sun. Some well-known comets include Hale-Bopp, Comet NEOWISE, and Comet Lovejoy.
What DO comet tails originate from? They are formed when the sun causes gas and dust to leave the comet, and are then swept away by solar winds. This is why that no matter which direction a comet is traveling, it's tail is always pointed awY from the sun.

Nobody made Halley's Comet, and there isn't any purpose to its existence. It simply is.
Halley's Comet is currently a little beyond the orbit of Neptune.
