You can't buy a star, but you can have one named after you. The International Star Registry sells names.

It should be noted that such star names are not recognized by ANY official astronomical organization. You yourself are perfectly entitled to sell star names equally as valid as those of any other "Star Registry" not sanctioned by the International Astronomy Union (IAU).

No. It IS possible to pay an outrageous sum of money to have somebody publish a book that lists your name next to an invisibly-dim star, and to place that book in the Library of Congress - but no astronomer will ever read that book, or associate your name with that star.

It is not possible to buy a star as stars are celestial objects located in space and cannot be owned or sold. Third-party companies may offer symbolic deeds to name a star, but these are not officially recognized by the scientific community.

Ask yourself, who owns the star you want to buy? You can save yourself a lot of money by realizing you already enjoy as much title to it as anyone else.
