You have to dig out your gas bill and fine the cost of a therm or unit of gas. Use that to calculate the cost of gas in your area. Good choice in for your pool heater!

That would depend on which heater model.

Where is the pilot on a raypak heater?

On a Raypak heater, the pilot light is typically located near the burner assembly, usually at the bottom of the unit. It can be accessed by removing the front panel or cover of the heater. The pilot light is a small flame that ignites the main burner when the heater is activated. Always refer to the specific model's manual for precise instructions and safety information.

What size heater do you need to heat a 3500 gallon jacuzzi spa?

Click on the "How To Calculate Heater Size" link on Pool Gear Plus's Pool Heaters page for a chart. Hum, don't you mean 350 gal spa? Most appropriate heater size would be 400,000 in your choice of brands (Raypak). Wow, 3500 gal. it must be at least 10' x 16' x 3' quite impressive but impractical. k

Will a 130K BTU heat pump provide adequate heating for a 20x40 pool in New Jersey?

It depends on when you want to swim. If you are looking to extend your swimming season a few months, like from May to September and/or you would like to raise your water temp 10-15 degrees than a 130K heat pump will do the job. The most important thing you can do it to use a solar cover. The heat pump will only raise the temp of the pool approximately .5 to 1 deg an hour and only if the temperature is above 50 degrees or so. So it will take 24 hours to get the pool comfortable and than with a 6-8 hour pool pump run time you should be able to have the water a comfortable 85 degrees or so. Without a solar cover the evaporation will be much higher and you will need to run the heat pump for 10+ hours a day to maintain the desired temperature. If you want to have your pool 90+ degrees regardless of the outside temp and you want it to heat up very quickly, than you definetly want a propane or gas heater. The answer is no. A heat pump requires heat to pump. NJ probably gets a little cold doesn't it? Therefore, no heat to pump. Depending on wind conditions, I would go with a Laars 400LX/LT. HM Louisiana ANSWER: Stay with the Raypak.

How do you personally service a 20-year-old Raypak heater used for an ingound Jacuzzi?

By using a professional pool tech. He can determine the parameters set forth by the mfr. as to what meter readings should be for each component within the diagram of the heater. Heaters should, according to the mfg., be serviced annually but can go as much as three to five years depending on use. The tech will know instinctively because of his training and experience what needs to be done to a heater to service it safely. He will rely on those readings to determine whether a part is getting ready to fail or not. If you attempt to do the job yourself, do not attempt to bypass any of the components to make the heater run. Not a job for an armature. Get a pool tech. Is your home worth it. A resulting fire from a pool heater could destroy your belongings. Ken

What is the best heater for an in-ground swimming pool?

I prefer Raypak heaters. They have been in business a very long time and heaters is all they do. The quality is very high and their warranty serviceis great. They are unlike other companies that either bought heater companies then sucked them dry of money and technical resources. They are not owned by some big conglomerate and is only a small portion of their business that doesn't get the attention to details and quality needed. Steve Dunn Commercial Pool Systems, Inc. The company that puts all of the others to shame is Elecro. Their designs have been perfected over their years of existence, and their customer service is astonishingly considerate and kind. I love to deal with these people. Oh, and some people say that the heaters are too reliable for the company's own good! I hope you value ''my totally biased'' opinion! Anne Reynolds, TN
