In some years, there are more hurricanes than usual due to a combination of factors, including warmer ocean temperatures, which provide more energy for storm development. Additionally, changes in atmospheric conditions, such as wind patterns and humidity levels, can create a more favorable environment for hurricane formation. Climate change may also play a role by altering weather patterns and increasing the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events. These factors together can lead to years with heightened hurricane activity.

Hurricanes have been occurring on Earth for millions of years. The modern system of naming hurricanes began in 1953 by the National Hurricane Center. Tracking and studying hurricanes has evolved over time with advancements in technology and understanding of weather patterns.
Yes. 2009 was a relatively mild hurricanes season, at least for the Atlantic with 9 tropical storms of which 3 became hurricanes. 2010 was very active with 19 tropical storms of which 12 became hurricanes. 2011 was also active with 19 tropical storms of which 7 became hurricanes. However, a 3 year period of analysis is not enough to draw any conclusions.

Probably a usual career span of about 40 years.
Hurricanes have been around for a long time. And I mean as long as maybe billions and billions and billions of years. Even Jupiter and Neptune have hurricanes!! The biggest hurricanes on those planets are probably category 10 or whatever. Anyway, since hurricanes have been around for so many years, it's impossible to tell what was the first season. The first recorded season was probably in 1800. I don't know anything beyond that. Hurricane tracking began later...I don't remember when.
There have been several major hurricanes over the years. Five of the major hurricanes were Katrina, Andrew, Hugo, Wilma, and Camille.
