In which climate zone are grasslands located?

Annually grasslands receive 20-100 cm of precipitation which is why they are found in subtropical and temperate areas. The temperature in these regions changes from extreme cold to hot which allows grass particularly to survive versus trees and other plant life. It is quite normal for these regions to have fires due to the extreme hot temperatures, which is an example of why particular plants, more specifically tall and short grass is found in abundance in these areas. Grass has a larger probability of frequently surviving natural fires versus many other plant species.
