The Canadian Cryosphere
Some parts of Canada, known as the Canadian Cryosphere, are covered in snow all year round. This snow never melts as the temperatures are too low and the ground stays frozen (called perma-frost). The Cryosphere is rapidly changing as temperatures in the Canadian arctic have been increasing at twice the global average over the last 100 years.
Typiccally however, snow coverage can be expected as follows:
Snow covers over 1/3 of Canada's surface all year round. In the winter almost all 100% of Canada is covered but this is reduced in spring and fall months to about 2/3 snow coverage of Canada's surface
