its half living half dead
Zombies are creatures of the Paranormal Undead realm. They are, in fact, neither living nor dead. Simply reanimated corpses bent on satisfying their only basic need. The need to feed. Other than the "obsession" in satisfying this one basic need, zombies have no other sentient or biological functions. They severely lack mental processes, other than an insatiable hunger for human flesh. For more on zombies, watch the Resident Evil saga (or play the games). I think the first movie describes the zombies in more detail.

Dry leaves are dead leaves.
Pimples are a result of the body's immune response to bacteria in the pores, making them a nonliving manifestation of this process. They contain bacteria, dead skin cells, and oil but are not considered living entities on their own.

Any organism which is dead and has ceased to live is a nonliving organism. This applies to all animal and plant family organisms. ;)
glass is non-living, as it was never alive. if it was made of animal matter, then it would be classed as living, even if it was dead. Sand has never been alive, so it is non-living
