it is a polysaccharide
Proteins, starch, poly(ethene), poly(propene) and PTFE are examples.
"Mono" means one "Poly" means many For any given sugar (saccharide), a polysaccharide would be larger.
"Mono" means one and "poly" means many, and "mer" derives from a word that means parts, so a monomer is an atom or small molecule (one part) and a polymer is a large molecule with repeating structures (many parts).
Two types of carbohydrates are simple carbohydrates and complex carbohydrates. Simple carbohydrates include sugars like glucose found in fruits, while complex carbohydrates include starches like those found in grains and vegetables.
Native starch is not a thermoplastic. It is a semi-crystalline material and, when heated on its own, degrades before reaching the glass transition temperature. WHen starch is heated in the presence of water, glycerol or other plasticizers, the semi-crystalline arrangement present in native starch is disrupted and the result is an amorphous material composed of entangled amylopectin and amylose chains. This material, called thermoplastic starch (TPS) is indeed a thermoplastic since its glass transition temperature is well below the degradation T. Hence starch may be processed in common industrial techniques such as melt extrusion and injection moulding like traditional thermoplastics. Most "starch plastics" found at the market are based on TPS, and many of them consist in blends, that is mixtures, of TPS with another polymer (such as Poly(lactic acid); Poly(caprolactone); Poly (Vinyl alcohol) ; natural rubber...). A famous example of a TPS blend is Mater-Bi by Novamont. Hope this helps. HUGS FOR ALL!
it is a polysaccharide
Sugars and starches.
I believe corn is a starch.Corn kernels contain sugar (sacharides) and starch (poly-saccharide). The stalk (stover) is lignin (poly-phenol) and cellulose (also a poly-saccharide).
the monomer of poly saccharide is glucose
mono means "one" anp poly means "many."
"mono" means "one," and "poly" means "many."
last time my teacher just said their mono. Buddhism is the one that's poly.
it is reaction used to determine the position of linkage of the poly saccharide
of course
nothing
The opposite prefix of poly is "mono." It means single or one.
mono means one, poly means many or more than one.
