Will we eventually have only one time period - either daylight or standard
Daylight Saving Time is meant to save on the cost of lighting in the evening. However, studies are starting to show that in warmer areas, the cost of the increased use of air conditioning in the late afternoon more than cancels any savings from reduced lighting, especially now that incandescent lighting is being phased out.
CST is Central Standard Time. CDT is Central Daylight Time. CT is Connecticut, but some people mistakenly use it as an abbreviation for Central Time. Daylight Saving Time begins and ends on dates set by law. Nationally, in 2012, it begins on March 11 at 2:00am and ends on November 4 at 2:00am, but states and regions may or may not choose to go along, so it is very important to use the full three letter abbreviation. Use CST when referring to time in the central time zone when and where Daylight Saving Time is not in effect. Use CDT when referring to time in the central time zone when and where Daylight Saving Time is in effect. Use CT to refer to Connecticut, or any number of other things abbreviated CT, but NEVER to identify a time zone, unless your goal is to confuse people.
In "Daylight Saving Time," "Daylight Saving" is being used as an adjective - as in time that is saving daylight. "Daylight Savings" would be a noun itself, and makes little sense applied as an adjective in this context. Many people use the word savings, not knowing the correct way to say it. Edit; "Daylight Saving" time.
Daylight savings can help increase daylight in the evenings, promoting outdoor activities and potentially saving energy by reducing the need for artificial lighting. It can also align better with natural light patterns, improving people's circadian rhythms and overall well-being.
There are no current plans to phase out daylight savings time, though there is some debate as to its usefulness. Some countries such as Argentina, Russia, and Iceland have implemented a permanent daylight savings time.

Well if I think of it from off the top of my head I'd have to say daylight savings. The affects of human beings relating to the moon changing can be the states that practice daylight savings. When daylight savings happens others either go back an hour or forward. Some say it is for the government to limit electricity being used, but I think it is best to look up the ideas of Paul Revere.

EST = Eastern Standard Time; EDT = Eastern Daylight Savings Time; ET = Eastern Time, generally taken to mean the time currently being observed in that time zone, whether it's EST or EDT.

Yes they are; in fact RNs with only an ASN are being phased out as well for RNs with a BSN.

As of 2006, with the addition of Indiana, there are now 48 U.S. states that observe daylight saving time (all but Hawaii and Arizona, although the Navaho Nation, part of which is in Arizona, does do daylight saving time).
If you are referring to the U.S.A. Armies standard weapon for infantry it is/was the range of M16 Assault rifles. Now they are being phased out and replaced with M4 Carbines.
