Marshy soil is a type of soil that is waterlogged and characterized by having high organic content. It is typically found in low-lying areas near water bodies such as marshes, swamps, and wetlands. Marshy soil is often spongy and can be a challenge for construction and agricultural activities.
Generally speaking a plain lacks physical beauty and is not per se ugly. A plain is a large expanse of land and considered open country lacking mountain ranges for example. In comparison a plateau is much like a plain with the important distinction of being an elevated open expanse of land.
A plateau is a flat elevated landform with steep sides, while a canyon is a deep valley with steep sides usually carved by a river. Plateaus are generally broad and flat on the top, while canyons have narrow bottoms and high vertical walls.
Flood basalts is the term to describe a flow of fluid basaltic lava that issues from cracks or fissures. It commonly covers an extensive area of thickness of hundreds of meters.

Both words mean the same, a swale is a low tract of marshy land.
A "swamp" is low marshy ground characterized by stagnant water and often covered with dense vegetation. Swamps are typically found in tropical and subtropical regions, and they play an important ecological role in supporting diverse plant and animal species.
The Coastal Lowland is a narrow strip of relatively low ground between the sea and the cliffs leading to the Plateau. Because of its proximity to the sea its climate is wetter than that of the Plateau, with fewer extremes of temperature. It is also more subject to fog. There is considerable farming, although much of the land is marshy and not well suited to development.
It can be called a plateau (French origin) or a mesa (Spanish) origin.
